How To: Fill In Your Eyebrows Perfectly

Hey girls!

Today I wanted to share with you something that I have been struggling with for a ver long time: filling my eyebrows. I always made them way too thick, too dark, or they looked really drawn on and fake. After tonnes of trial and error, I finally figured out how to fill them in the right way. That way, they're even and they are just the shape I want them to be.

You know, I only started filling my eyebrows a few months ago but now, if there was only one thing I could do in terms of makeup, it would be my brows. I believe they really do frame the face. Let me give you the secret to have perfect brows. The three important categories to think about when filling your eyebrows are colour, shape, and the look. Let's begin!

Colour is a very important aspect to think about when filling in your eyebrows. In makeup there are lots of products that you actually have to match such as foundation or concealer. When it comes to your brows, matching the powder or pencil perfectly actually does not look the best. If you have light hair and you match the colour exactly, your brows won't even show. If you dark hair, it might look too bold, drawn on, and just unnatural. Here's a rule of thumb for you to follow: If you have light brows, use a product that is one or two shades darker. If you have dark brows, use a product that is one or two shades lighter.

Shape is critical because if the frame of your face isn't even then your face won't look right; just odd. An important thing to remember is, always follow the hairs of your eyebrows; don't create a new shape. However, if you have a large gap somewhere I recommend getting a stencil in order to guide you so that your brows are as even as possible. You can also use them when plucking or waxing your eyebrows at home. Eyebrow stencils are really easy to find in stores or online. Click here to get some.

The look of your eyebrows is based on what you're going for: bold and intense or soft and natural. You can achieve either one of these looks but, it depends on the type of product you use and the way you apply it. I have always heard that if you use a powder product to fill in your eyebrows you will get a softer look than if you use a pencil product. I do believe that is somewhat true because I still think you can get a soft natural look when using a pencil, you just have to apply it in soft feather-like strokes and, make sure to blend it out well. When using soft feathery strokes, the small strokes almost look like hairs so it looks natural. Even if you want a more bold, intense look to your eyebrows, you have to make sure that they don't look fake or drawn on. You still want it to look like they're your real brows so, be careful. All you have to do to get a bolder brow is apply a little more pressure to the pencil or, brush on a little more product. I don't recommend using a darker product though.

What to Use
You could an eyebrow pencil of course but a cheaper alternative would be an eyeliner. For some reason a product is double the price whenever the word "eyebrow" is in the product name. Make sure that there is absolutely no sparkle or shimmer in it at all. Good eyebrow powder can be pretty expensive too (though I hear the E.L.F Brow Kit is pretty good). you can however, use a matte eyeshadow. I recommend looking for what MAC eyeshadow would be good for your hair colour and if it's out of your budget, look for a dupe online :) Sorry I can't help you there, MAC is out of my league :p As for tools. If your into the powder products then you should get a small angled brush for good control. I also think a spooley could come in handy when blending. An old, clean mascara wand would work just as well though.

I use Maybelline's Unstoppable Eyeliner in Cinnabar for my brows :)

So that's it! I hope my guide to perfect-looking brows has helped you a little. There is one thing that you MUST remember when doing your eyebrows: Eyebrows are sisters, not twins.

Nails of the Day: Sinful Colors Mint Apple

Hey everyone!
It's time for Nails of the Day!
This week I have been wearing a polish that I randomly bought just because I was curious about the brand and, I thought it was pretty of course. "Mint Apple" by Sinful Colors is a beautiful medium mint colour with very fine silver glitter. I absolutely love it. This nail polish has become a summer staple! I must say, I really like Sinful Colors' colour selection, even though its not the biggest, I find that their colours are unique.
"Mint Apple" went on creamy and easily. The first coat was way too sheer to get away with. The second coat was way better but when I lifted up my finger I can sort of see my natural nail so, I went for a third. The great thing about this formulation though, is that even with three coats (you can probably  get away with two depending on the colour and if you're not as picky as me :p) it does not get thick on your nails. It actually drys pretty fast too! I have been looking for that perfect mint shade for a really long time now so, I'm glad I finally found it! I definitely recommend picking it up if you're interested; you won't be disappointed! I mean for $2, you've really got nothing to loose. You can find this at Target, which is where I got it :) Let me know if you plan on picking this up!

Thanks for reading :D

Face of the Day: Simple Burgundy Smokey Eye

Hi beauties!

I love experimenting with makeup especially creating different eye looks. I normally go for a very simple natural look. I thought that I would get out of my extremely limited comfort zone. I really love the way this look turned out. I'll for sure wear this again. I'm just so inspired to do more intense looks like this one. I thought I should share the products I used and how I did it :)

Face Products:

  • Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer in 001
  • Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer in Medium Beige
  • NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Face Powder in Translucent
  • Clinique Powder Blush in Cupid
After applying a generous amount of primer all over my face, focusing on my t-zone and fine lines, I used the concealer all over my face as well. During the summertime, I find foundations to be too heavy for me so, I used this concealer as a stick foundation. I'm also traveling so I didn't want to bring much. It seems to work great. Anyways, I just blended it out with a foundation brush. Once all my flaws were covered up, I set it all with the NYC powder. This stuff isn't all that bad. I really like it. I wanted to keep the face nice and simple so that all the focus would be on the eyes. I lightly swept "Cupid" on the apples of my cheeks with a blush brush. That blush is so gorgeous; it gives me such a beautiful "flushed" look with a little healthy glow.

Eye Products:

  • Elizabeth Arden Advanced Eye-Fix Primer (not shown)
  • No Name Black Eyeliner
  • Clinique High Impact Colour Surge Eyeshadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge (brown shade)
  • Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow and Liner in Natural Nude (top and bottom shades)
  • Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Cinnabar
  • Maybelline  Volum' Express The Falsies in Blackest Black (washable)
As for the eyes, I primed them then, used the no name liner as a base, blending it to the crease. FYI: In case you're wondering why I call it a no name liner, it's because I got it from this random wig store at a mall in Montreal, and it literally doesn't have a name on it :p I really like this liner because it's creamy and smooth; not harsh on my eyes. Moving on, I used a flat shading brush to pack on the pinkish brown/ burgundy shade from the Clinique duo to right before the crease. Then I took the darkest shade in the Shimmer Strip in the outer corner and outer crease. There was still the black base left in the crease so I blended it in with the burgundy shadow. I would line my upper lash line and tight line with the black liner but, I forgot to before the pictures :( These pictures are not doing that beautiful pinky brown colour justice.  This eyeshadow definitely has more pink undertones. It's almost like a really rusted rose gold colour. To highlight my inner corners and brow bone, I use the lightest shade in the Shimmer Strip. The pearly white shade really opened up my eyes. I smudged a small bit of the brown Maybelline eyeliner on my lower lash line and set it with the darkest shade in the Shimmer Strip. I also used that brown liner to fill in my brows because it's amazing for that purpose. Finally, I curled my lashes and applied two generous coats of The Falsies for an even more dramatic look.

Lip Products:

  • EOS Lip Balm in Sweet Mint
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in #17
  • NYX Girls Round Lip Gloss in 06 Mauve

Last but definitely not least, the lips. This is always my favourite part. I used the EOS lip balm as a base for my lipstick. Once it was all soaked in, I applied the Kate Moss lipstick heavily and topped it off with a tiny bit of the NYX gloss in the middle. I smacked my lips together multiple times quickly, as if to blend the two together. Once it faded a little, and the gloss lost its shine (the gloss' tackiness is still there so I think it helps the lipstick last longer), it gave me the "my lips but better" look which I think looked great with the eyes because it was natural.

And that's it. This is how I decorated my face today :p Did you like this post? Would you like to see more Face of the Day's? Telling me your opinion down below in the comments would be much appreciated.

So I wanted to make this blog slightly more interesting so, I have decided to start " Cupcakes of the Day." These will let you know what I have been up to :) Let me know what you think!

Cupcakes of the Day:
  • How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun, like shop?
  • I don't think I've told you this but, for the past month I've been on vacation in Egypt, visiting family. We're also here because my aunt is getting married! Yay!
  • Nothing exciting really happened today, just last minute touch ups for the wedding, which is one week from today! It's CRAZY how fast time has flown by. My summer will be over in two weeks when I go back to Canada! What?!?!
Anyways, thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed this.

Product Review: It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin

Hello my sweet little cupcakes!

There are a lot of things that I buy to try out just because I'm curious. This product however, is one of those that I have heard so many great things about, I had to try it. I was really excited when I got it because I had been looking for something, anything to restore my extremely damaged hair. So when I saw it at Walmart, I thought, hey why not? This retails for (if I'm not mistaken) CAD $22.50 so it's kind of pricey.

What It Claims

This leave-in restoration spray claims to perform the following 10 "miracles":

1. Maintenance of keratin straightening treatments
2. Increases styling and manageability
3. Perfect for all hair types
4. Replaces lost protein
5. Protects the natural keratin in hair
6. Protects against heat
7. Restores hydration balance
8. Detangles, defrizzes, and adds shine
9. Strengthens hair structure
10. Seals cuticles for extra silky hair

Honestly, I think that it does stay true to its claims and that it does in fact do most of these things to my hair. I must warn you though, just because #6 says it protects your hair from heat it does not withstand heat styling so, be careful.

Did It Work?

As for the other claims, I have noticed my hair has become much more manageable, shiny, and silky. My hair is definitely not as frizzy and when I put the spray in my hair my brush runs through it like a dream.

How To Use It

I thought it might be useful to tell you how to use it. I put in the spray when my hair is wet because when it drys, there is no way I'll see my brush again. It all depends on your hair type. Make sure you brush it all out to distribute it evenly of course.

The consistency of the spray itself is slightly thick and white; almost foamy. Once sprayed into the hair and brushed, it disappears and doesn't leave any residue, which is great.

Final Thoughts

I have been using this product for a little over a month now and I felt the need to tell you all how amazing it is. I've noticed a huge difference in my hair structure over the past month. My hair has just looks healthier and better overall. So to sum up this entire blog, I love it and you should try this out :)

Thanks for reading,

I love you cupcakes

Welcome to BeautyCupcakeGirl!!!

Hello my little cupcakes!

My name is Emily. I am just a Canadian teenager passionate about two things: beauty and cupcakes. My love for makeup and things of the beauty world has grown immensely over the past years.

Even though my makeup collection isn't all that big, (it's quite small, actually) that hasn't stopped me from doing what I love: decorating my face with makeup. Sometimes when I'm bored or just having a bad day, I'll put on some makeup and I would feel this great amount of confidence and just feel happy.

I'm all about trying new products and feeling that excitement when I come back from Walmart with a bunch of stuff but, I do believe in inner beauty as well. If anything, being beautiful on the inside is ten times more important. Makeup is only supposed to be used to bring out the beauty inside all of us gorgeous girlies. I definitely want to help you all realize how important that is. But hey, I'm not perfect, I'm going to need your help too ;)

This was just a very short introduction to tell you a little about myself and what my blog is all about. I hope that together we can make this blog amazing and use it to teach every girl out there that all you need is inner beauty and like I said before, makeup should just enhance it :)

P.S: I know this post was really plain and boring but I'm still trying to figure everything out. I promise I'll decorate the next post.

Please put post ideas in the comments down below, it would really help me see what your eyeballs want to read. Also, don't forget to follow this awesome blog so I can give each and every one of you a virtual cupcake <3

Have a great day my dear cupcakes!
